Is Apologia Young Explorer Astronomy Nature study or Science?  I’m thinking that it is both.  If I am working on Nature studies for a 7 year-old would this book be too much?  Should I wait?

I would call it science. Nature study is more like getting outside, seeing stuff. You could also do some astronomy nature study alongside it though.

So should I hold off on the curriculum at this age?

Probably too much, but you know best. I would do Outdoor Secrets or 106 Days instead of the text (or use the text as reference).

It is up to you if you want to wait or use it this year; but I would consider it science.

We did Apologia Astronomy last year, my oldest was in 2nd grade (7 turning 8 late in the year) and child #2 was 5 turing 6 and in Kindergarten. I didn’t expect child #2 to get much out of it, he just listened in here and there, but he ended up loving it, and rarely missed out. Both of the kids really liked it and I can’t believe what they remembered. I think it just depends child to child.

We did Outdoor Secrets for the previous year and really enjoyed it as well.

Would it be too much to do ‘Nature Studies’ one day a week and then Science another day during the week?  We went through ‘Outdoor Secrets’ last year and loved it 🙂

We did science 3 days/week and Nature study one day/week. My kids really enjoy science and asked to do it daily, so once again it just depends on your situation.
