Okay..my mom just offered to buy my older girls ipods for Christmas, wow! I have no idea the difference between ipods or MP3’s…yes, technology is passing me by. My one daughter has a $35 MP3 and I wanted one of those just to download the free audio books/music, also to get books on tape for the kids to listen to, that is the only thing I would want one for or to download sermons from Sermon Audio etc…
Someone said w/ ipods you can’t download free audio stuff? What would they use an ipod for? I am not into music videos for them or anything like that so I guess I don’t know what a 14 and 15 year old would use an ipod for, in my opinion it would need to benefit their “learning”.
iPods can play mp3 files and much more. So, yes, they will work for your free audio books or sermons. Some models also play video, which can be useful for some of the free educational video resources available.
In comparison to other mp3 players, iPods tend to be much easier to use, especially when it comes to loading files onto them. They use the iTunes software to organize and synchronize files.
Go with the ipods!!! We have had both and there is nothing like it. Our 6 – 13 yrs old have had one for almost 3 years now. They are wonderful and so durable. They have been washed more than once and keep on going. Not that I recommend washing them.
This is a great question. I am in the market for Ipods or MP3 players for my children. But mainly just to declutter our home of all the many audio programs we have on cd’s. So I understand that your advice is to go with the Ipods even though they are so much more expensive..It is worth the expense? Do they even make docks for regular MP3 players like they do for the Ipods. Docks, like the kind that you can play instead of listening through earphones.
I am sure they do make docks for them but the ipods have a higher availability. A secret to finding them cheaper…..check out the refurb store on Apple’s site. They restock every Monday morning so just watch and you can find them a bit less. But, the price is far worth it. We have owned mp3 players and iPods and I would never go back.
