I just stumbled across this wonderful site a few days ago and wanted to introduce myself. We have 6 children, three of which have flown the coop. But there are still two little ones left that are 4 years old, and a strapping young man of 17 who is apprenticing as a carpenter. We adopted our 4 year old boys from Haiti and so I am now just starting out with homeschooling (although I really think that started when they came off the airplane with us on Canadian soil). I’ve always done a smattering of Charlotte Mason but am really excited to have come across Simply Charlotte Mason, ’cause at this stage of my life I like to keep things simple. I’m loving the Early Years curriculum and book list and am reading through Education Is. Look forward to learning from all you C.M.ers!
Welcome. I know that you will love this site. You will find so much information here and it just keeps coming. The families on this site are outstanding. Someone always has at least one idea to give but expect more cause we all are here to help.
Welcome, Diane! It’s great to have you here. You’ll learn much from this site! Your boys will love Charlotte Mason and her methods because they’ll be allowed to explore and see and discover. This sight’s creator, Sonya, has a wonderful way of encouraging the CM methods in your homeschool and reassuring us that it really is simple and easy! Enjoy those boys!
I welcome you, also, to a place where I have learned so much and read expressions of great grace, kindness, and wisdom.
I also was just excited to hear about someone a little bit like myself, in that you are mom to significantly older children and have adopted the younger boys. We also have 3 older children, (28,27,23) and have a 6yo adopted through the foster care system.
May God bless you greatly as you adventure into the world of Charlotte Mason and this group of friends!
thanks all for your warm welcomes! I have noticed the special warmth through posts in various threads. I am excited to learn more about implementing a Charlotte Mason way of learning for our two guys from everyone here.
Nancy, I too am excited to meet another person who is in this same phase of life as we are. Our older children are 26, 25, 21, and the previously mentioned 17 year old. We are a slightly different breed so whenever we come across someone else who is in the same boat it’s almost as though we have a kindred spirit. Don’t you find the same thing?
Thanks again, everyone!
Diane
