Hi! I homeschooled my five children for many years. We used a variety of methods, including many Charlotte Mason principles and techniques. For various reasons, my children went to public school last fall. I have been very proud of how they handled the transition, and they have been excellent students.

Now that the new year’s school bell looms in the distance after spending time together this summer, I am wondering how I can incorporate some of the Charlotte Mason principles into our next school year.

    Any ideas?

I still consider ourselves homeschoolers at heart, especially during these lovely summer months.

    Thanks!

Read aloud from the great books!

Start each morning with a poem, reciting scripture, sing a hymn together, and say prayers.

Listen to classical music on car rides and in the evening.

Display art in the living room, rotating every couple of weeks.

Music lessons and time in nature as the budget and schedule allow. 🙂
