What do you all do in between learning to read and starting grammar and spelling? My daughter is doing great with reading. I feel like we are ready to move on from delightful reading. But I don’t know what to do next. Just copy work and reading practice?

I begin assigning chapter books to be read independently and narrated orally. We continue with copywork, perfecting letters that haven’t been and adding more time to the copywork block. Right now, my children do 6-7 minutes per day. They are 8.5 and 10. I would not start prepared dictation until age 8.5 or later. Ds has been doing dictation for nearly two years, but I have delayed with dd. If you wanted to do some basic grammar, English for the Thoughtful Child is a wonderful introduction.

    Thanks!  That was very helpful.

We do chapter books or the Pathway Readers along with English for the Thoughtful Child and copywork.
