If your kids LOVED Black Beauty…..

    Hey all,

    SO we read Black Beauty a while back and my kids were soo in love with the book, they talked about it all the time, and we watched one of the movies made after the book, and discussed the differences afterwards. It was lovely.

    Now im stuck on what to read aloud to them next…weve tried Wind in the Willows, but they weren’t as into it, and i found it a rather difficult read for me, because of the language. I need some recommendations please 🙂

    My girls are 7 and 8 are obsessed with horses! so anything along the lines of Black Beatty would be a wonderful help!

    The Black Stallion and other horse books by Walter Farley.

    Misty of Chincoteague and other horse books by Marguerite Henry.

    Have you tried books by Marguerite Henry? Misty of Chincoteague, Stormy Misty’s Foal, King of the Wind, Justin Morgan Had a Horse, Brighty of the Grand Canyon, Sea Star: Orphan of Chincoteague, Misty’s Twilight …. there are a few more but those are all horse or donkey.

    One daughter liked a couple of the Black Stallion books, but not nearly as much as Misty and others by Marguerite Henry. Oh, there’s another trilogy called Gabriel’s Horses (I think) that she enjoyed.
