Oh, isn’t that the truth! I was just feeling that same way today. It always hits me really hard around March and April. I feel like this year has been a bit of flop, without a string finish, a bit of a disorganized fizzle. I want to start plaaning and organizing for next year and sort of sweep the current one under the rug, and sort of just forget about it. Kind of an obnoxious MO of my life. <Sigh>
Here’s another thing. How are you all finding a way to afford all that you need to do a SCm Module? My library has very little and I have a large variety of ages. I am planning to do SCM Mod 1 next year. Any thoughts?
Well, all I have to suggest is using your tax return. That’s what we do. I don’t know what we’d do if we didn’t have it. I know that’s not very creative.
Our library lets homeschoolers have books on a special card for 6 weeks with one renewal. So I can keep them for 12 weeks. Then I can check it out again any time I want. So if I need it again soon, I can have it or put it on request again.
Amy – I use bookfinder.com It compares multiple sites to help cut the cost and the time spent trying to cut the cost!! Also, start going to thrift stores, join paperbackswap.com (I know there are other sites that do the book exchange, too), and start looking early. We won’t be starting the next module until August, but I already have my list ready and wishes on paperbackswap.com. I have had a couple of the wishes granted, too. I have made myself a chart of the books needed and looked up which ones I can get at the library, too. We will actually be living in at least 2 different places during the school year, so I have both libraries listed and have checked both for all the books we need.
I think it is even harder when you do not fit nicely in to one philosophy. I use a combination of three that I have convinced myself blend beautifully! 🙂 Still I agree wholeheartedly and have put down my boat … many times in fact. Ha! Ha!
I love this image though. Maybe when I feel tired I’ll remember to “put down the boat” and just float or swim where I am.
