Those look great! I don’t know anything about price and what not. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but have you considered painting for children’s books? I love to see beautiful artwork for children’s books!! Think Paddle To The Sea..I love those pictures. And Robert Louis Stevenson’s book of poems w/ Tudor being the artist. Oh my, those paintings are wonderful! Your tree painting makes me think of a quiet lovely place of a poem!
So I am not saying you couldn’t sell them anywhere you want to..I am saying I wonder how easy it would be to paint/draw for children’s books? I am actually complimenting you! I hope it sounds that way!:)
Maybe you could try your local gift shops to ask if you can display them there?
I would love to draw/paint like that! Always had an interest! How would you like to teach me? LOL!! What a great idea to earn extra money!
I’m not for sure how to go about selling paintings, but those would also be beautiful as greeting cards. We have craft shops here where you pay rent for a small booth in the store and crafters/artisits sell their items. I love shopping there! We can buy paintings, jewelry, doll clothes, decorations for the home, etc. Is there anything like this in your area? It is not an antique store or a used store.
Etsy is an online store for crafters. It costs 20 cents for each item that you list and then when you sale it, Etsy gets 3.5% of the sale. I do not know if this would work out better for you then the booth fees. But you wouldn’t have to leave home except to ship.
These are lovely, Amanda. =) I would definetely second the suggestion to look into having prints of your paintings made into notecards as well as prints to be hung on the wall. (Seems like this wouldn’t be too difficult to do by scanning them in and having them printed on good quality paper.) Just speaking for myself I would be more likely to buy a set of notecards than a painting to hang on the wall.
I too think they would make great note cards – I have more of a budget for notecards than paintings lol! I love trees and love the way you use colour and light in your painting….nice blog by the way….good luck. Linda
A friend of mine runs http://wallblank.com/. Thier Printery service can do high quality art prints and fullfilment on demand for internet sales.
Another friend has a line of note cards using his art. He prints them on nice quality stock and packages them into 10-packs. I think he only sells them locally. He went around to local gift shops and made arrangements to sell directly through them.
Good news…maybe 🙂 I stopped by a local indoor flea market and they allowed me to price 3 paintings and leave them there to see how they do! No fee unless something sells! Sounded great to me!
I was not prepared for leaving them or pricing them. I just went in to check it out, but I ended up pricing and leaving the one I had painted to go in my own living room over my sofa! I hope I can replicate it so that I have something on my own wall!! LOL!!
Thank you all for the encouragement and sweet comments!
I am going to look into the notecards too. We have a scanner/printer/copier so I could easily scan and print them…I think LOL! Like I said…I’m looking into it 😉
Just wanted to share that I have started a section on my blog for my art work. I am, as you know, in the VERY early stages of starting my own little shop so patience please 🙂
However, I wanted you all to see my progress as it happens and thank you again for all the help, encouragement, and great ideas.
