Blanked! Couldn’t think of anything. I had it all planned out how great it would be, me and the kids working on it together once I figured out how to use everything. But I didn’t know how to start. Any other newly started blogs that I could peak at?? How do your blogs look when you start out?Paula
Mine’s been going for a few years but I wanted to say that the easiest to me is Blogger. They have an easy to use designer that helps you change colors and backgrounds so it can start looking ‘great’ quickly, and many of the things like tabs across the top and such are available as ready to go gadgets, you select what you want and drag it to the right spot. Ta da. They have easy options for having 1, 2, or 3 columns and different arrangements of those too.
Good luck, I think the initial learning curve is the part that scares people off. Just do it and you can change things as you go along!
And I would suggest getting it up and going with a few posts before you tell everyone about it! :). I made the mistake of starting mine with on welcome post then deciding to buy the domain name for my library. Blogger was having trouble at that particular time (of course) and no one could get to my blog which had nothing on it anyway! But as Tristan said, just gt started. Trust me…if I can do it ANYONE can. Blogger is very easy to work with. My latest post just came out yesterday.

I just started one. 🙂 Not a crazy amount on it at the moment, but you are more than welcome to look around and get some ideas. I set it up knowing what I would be talking about – Random stuff – like cute things my kids say or do, writing down our vacation memories, our homeschooling days and our home repairs (bought an 1820’s farm house about a year ago). And I agree with Tristan that blogger is easy to use.
I also figured out how to add different backgrounds and banners etc. now, since I am both on bedrest and all my kids were sick with stomach bugs/bronchitis/pnemonia this week. (Sounds fun, right?? 😉 ) If you have time to work on all of that, I can try and find the websites I used to walk me through it. Only reason that I did it now was because I had the time now, and I knew I wouldn’t have it when my kids were well and I was off bed rest. 🙂
Love them, thanks. I think I will make this into a project me dd 8 can do together. Maybe get her interested in typing, cause she isn’t right now. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll let you guys know when I get it together and it is presentable.
Melissa – Thank you for writing! I’ve enjoyed reading!! I actually ran across your blog before I realized you posted here too. Same with Tristan’s blog – I hopped over from a “top 25 list for large families.” It took me reading a few blog posts before I realized that they were the same Tristan.
