I love the SCM forum and find it to be a great source of ideas and advice. But I also find it’s a little like wandering around at one of those huge family reunions…..you talk to people you don’t see often, and you keep asking yourself, “Now, does my third cousin Linda have twin girls or twin boys? Are they 16 or 19? Is cousin Dana’s oldest 3 years old…or is her youngest 3 years old? Oh, I wish I knew!”
So what does that have to do with the forum? Well, often I’ll be reading a great post about, let’s say Easy Grammar Plus. I’ll read someone’s post about how it was great for their son or daughter. And I’m wishing they had mentioned the age or grade of said offspring. So, up pops my “laughing guy” avatar with the question, “@Wonderful SCM Member, what ages/grades are your kids?” I know that Wonderful SCM Member has mentioned in previous posts the ages/grades of her Wonderful CM-taught Kids, but I forget. I’d love to know because it might help me decide if, let’s say Easy Grammar Plus, is right for my 11yo….or my 13yo.
Thus, I’m asking (even if it seems like overkill) if y’all would be so kind as to mention ages and/or grades (whatever is appropriate for a given thread) more often in your posts about curriculum choices or advice on age-specific things like chores or bedtimes or anything else where it might matter.
Just thinking… I wonder how hard it would be to add a signature for members – one that could be entered in the profile area. We could include ages of children, though I wouldn’t necessarily include their name in the signature. Doug? Would that be too hard to do?

If you edit your profile there is a website field where you can fill in the link to your blog. Your name that appears under your picture for each post then becomes a link to that address.
Technically, there is a way to enable signatures but it’s not compatible with an upgrade to our forum software that we will eventually be using. I think it’s better to wait and see what I can do with the new software instead of adding signatures now that will go away later.
