Hi. Just researching and was introduced briefly to Charlotte Mason and am searching for more information.
A little about us. We (meaning my self–Momma Bear–, Papa Bear –AKA DH– and Bear our 4 yr old daughter Sarah–I will call her Sarah, S or Bear. Since birth her nickname has been Bear). We have a very strong desire to homeschool and have since our daughter was born (before even). The past year we have been looking at what we want to do. THus far we have taken a “organic” appoarch which really seems to be like CM. By organic I don’t mean unschool, but rather the old way. I have been stressing over the need society has placed in me that my almost 4 yr old know her numbers, her alphabet, sight words and more and she is still in diapers! Learning about CM (what I know thus far) is a answered prayer from God!
So, I have open ears and would love to hear and learn more. I am looking at buying the “Early Years” book. the fact that I can’t find a gently used copy is telling. 🙂
I highly recommend the Early Years book! It is worth every penny. (OK, everything I’ve bought from SCM is worth every penny…) I found it super helpful as I have started homeschooling our little ones (5.5, 3, and 15m) and it took a lot of pressure off of me to push the academic stuff too early and to recognize the value of learning from life. Welcome!!
We are starting with my 3.5 yo DS as well. (Our second, a DD, is due in a month.) Of course there’s not a lot to do as far as homeschooling this young but that’s part of the beauty of CM anyway. 🙂 The Early Years book is good and so is Charlotte Mason’s original writings. Very inspiring! 🙂
Welcome!
Dana
