I know it’s probably old news but this past week were were using the Famous Homeschoolers website and decided to pick an artist to read about. I really didn’t know why but we picked Akiane. I had no idea who she was or anything about her. But I am in love with her art. I love that she describes and lets me into her pictures. I love the emotion I get from them. I just read her book in 2 days because I wanted to see, feel and hear what her pictures were saying. I have never felt like this about art before. I have liked art always, I have things I have always liked to see, but I have never WANTED a print from someone before. I was so excited to see she has a calendar out for 2015 and am likely going to be ordering it. If you’ve never seen her work please do so especiallly with your children (children who like to draw/sketch for sure but all children as she was just a child when she started to paint).
Well I’m just so in love with her work. I feel like it talks right to my heart. I hope someone else also loves her OR that someone else looks at her web site and sees the beauty I see in her paintings. Thanks for letting me share. Misty
Thank you for sharing this! I had never heard of her. Her work is amazing. My son was pouring over her work this morning and was amazed at the beautyy and detail of her work from such a young age.
WOW! Her work is amazing. I did like what one reviewer said about her after reading one of her books about hoping she can remain humble with all the attention-I pray for that as well!!
I am wondering if anyone knows if one of her books would be appropriate for a 15 year old girl? I haven’t read any of them…yet! But I will but I was wondering if there is one to start with that my daughter and i could at the same time and discuss.
Her work is awesome. I am going to show my children as I told them about it today. Have any of you seen the movie “Heaven is for Real”? Her picture of Jesus is the one used in the movie. I have not read her book, did she say how this picture was inspired, did she have this encounter that was talked about at the end of the movie. I was amazed when I saw it, because I recognized it immediately.
