Has anyone ever used the Kid’s Hymn Project book or cd? If so, what did you think? We are not a family that is very familiar with hymns in general, so I am not quite sure where to begin.

I am not familiar with that product.

We use Hymns for A Kids’s Heart -we started using it when my oldest of my five kids was about 8.  There are four (or maybe five) books in the series.  Each book comes with a CD that has beautiful music and singing.  There are 12 hymns in each book that has color pictures in it.  There is a story about the hymn writer to go along with each hymn as well.  You can look at it here:

    It is a real treasure!

I’m not familiar with that one but wanted to share how we learn hymns (8 kids ages 12 years to 10 mos).  We simply sing them every day for a month.  We have hymn books for those who can read to sing along, while little ones listen and learn a phrase at a time usually.  I introduce the song by reading it aloud, then each day if we’re focusing on a particular verse I read just that one aloud.  That’s it.  I’m all for keeping things simple!  A few songs with more than 2-3 verses we’ve taken more than a month on, while others are learned by all much faster than a month.  We try to keep singing the ones we’ve learned regularly but I really need to make a list so I can just go down the list each day for one old song to sing alongside the new one we’re learning.

Thank you, that is really helpful! I will definitely check the book.

Tristan, I am all for simple as well! That sounds like something that would be do-able.
