It seems like no one uses it, but their printing is so easy to learn I wonder if there are benefits to their cursive style as well? Has anyone here used HWT cursive?
We did HWT manuscript and now I can’t decide if I want to stick with it for cursive or do a more traditional cursive style. Most of them seem more or less the same so I’m not too concerned about which traditional style. I couldn’t even tell you what I learned since I think every person kinda morphs into their own personal style. This makes me wonder if I do stick with HWT, dd’s handwriting probably won’t actually look quite as blocky as their examples are. Or maybe I’m wrong?
We plan on using it when the time comes! Im not sure if they introduce it in the second or third grade but that’s our plan. I have a first grader doing printing this year!
I used it with my older two and plan to with my younger two this year. Other than not being slanty, I don’t see it as very untraditional. My 10yo dd writes beautifully in cursive. My 12yo ds’s cursive is readable. But he has never been able to write as long as she has.
I’ve used it with both of my kids, too. I think HWT Cursive makes the transition from manuscript a very gentle one. I agree that it’s not particularly “untraditional.” I have heard some say they don’t like it because it doesn’t teach slanted cursive, but that’s what makes it more attractive to me.
We’re only in K and 1st grade, but I have to say HWT has been a miracle for us! My 6 year old has just terrible handwriting and I thought it was just how it was going to be. But we just started HWT and there is such a difference already! And my 5 year old has been way behind when it comes to handwriting, but he is loving HWT. So if the cursive is as great as the printing, we’ll be sticking with it!
