We will be starting our new school year in the next few weeks. For history, we are studying Joshua-Malachi & Ancient Greece. We have Discovering Doctrine and have noticed it is scheduled in the lesson plans but not consistently. Is there a reason for this? I’m am trying to get a handle on about how often my 8th grade son should be working on this. Thanks in advance.
Discovering Doctrine is a resource that your son will be adding to continually. We recommend utilizing it during family readings, church, Sunday school, etc. This resource is one that we recommend using over several years, we schedule it for 6 years in our history guides.
This fall I will have a 11th, 9th, and 7th grader and I have introduced Discovering Doctrine in the 7th grade. Starting in 7th i ask for 1 entry/week and I will be asking for 3 from my jr. this year. It can come from anything, personal Bible study, church, ect. It may take some practice and instruction, even just to become acquainted with the categories. Think long term resource.
Thank you so much for your response. I understood it was to be used over many years, but wasn’t sure if they needed to do on every day Bible was scheduled or just any time the come across something in the Bible. My 8th grader is getting much more independent at this point but I like to give him guidance and make sure he has reasonable expectations. This feedback helps a lot. Thanks again.
