How to find a publish date?

    Anyone know how to easily find a publish date when the book does not have one?

    I have a copy of Robert L. Stevenson’s A Child’s garden of verses and Jesse Wilcox Smith is the illustrator. I was just curious when it was published.

    It doesn’t have a dust cover and is hardbound.

    Do any of the first few pages list a publisher or date? 

    You might also check Google Books to find one that looks similar.

    There is also http://www.ISBNDB.com – they might have the information that you need.

    BTW, Is Copyright date different than Publish date?

    It does list a publisher but no date, or copyright date. (I’m using them interchangebly)

     

     I’ll have to check out those possibilities. Thank you :}

    Copyright date can be different from publishing date, especially if the book is older and has been reprinted by several publishers.
