  • Are there questions somewhere for this? My daughters are older and have never done oral narrations.

    Thanks

Do you mean how to get children to narrate,  or how to draw  narrations?  I’m guessing since you mentioned “older” maybe you aren’t looking for drawing?  You really don’t need any questions to get started.  That can come along as you go.  To begin, simply say  “Tell me about . . . . (insert topic here)–Tell me about chapter 4.  Tell me about Charles II.  Tell me about what happened to Galileo.  Tell me about photosynthesis.

One thing that has helped my children with narrations and understanding what I am asking for is to tell them to pretend that I have never heard anything about ______________, and I need them to explain it to me. Sometimes I say, “Pretend that I am a little girl and you are telling me all about ____________(insert topic). Sounds kind of silly, but it works 🙂

I have used the same phrases that both bookworm and Amanda have suggested.  There are times that my kids don’t know where to start (or just need help moving on) so I have actually said, “What happened first?” Or “Then what happened?” if I need to.
