  • I have three children ages 5, 4 and 2.  My oldest is in his second year of homeschooling and we will begin a more formal approach to CM once he turns 6 in february.  We are going to start  Genesis—Deuteronomy Ancient Egypt.  I like the chronological approach but not sure how this works for my other children.

My understanding is that I start my oldest with Module 1 and by the time my middle child is ready, my oldest will be on Module 3.  I would bring my middle child in on module 3 with my oldest (but then it would not be chronological for my middle child) and then bring my youngest in when my oldest is on module 5.

I understand that we will hit all modules when we swing back around again but am I understanding this right.  That only one of my children will get it chronologically?

You are understanding it the same way I am and at first it seemed weird to me that not all children would start at Genesis.  But they are still all learning chronologically just not all starting with the beginning of time, if that makes sense.  Also, many schools and curriculum start with American History and then go back to the beginning in later grades.  It’s so nice to have them all together in history.  I cannot imagine teaching 3 different time periods as my younger children join in.
