Good to hear this. On the subject of “why not buy a kit,” you could try mentioning that public schools are, in a sense, a “kit” that you pay for with loss of control over your child’s education (and tax money). The control you lose is not just over academics but also over character training. (Especially when the school teaches, “We must tolerate all lifestyles and choices, even if your parents don’t believe a given lifestyle or choice is right.”) And with the implementation of Common Core, your children will pay the price for the “kit” through all of that teaching to the test, dumbed-down materials, and probably less of a love of learning.
