how much reading is too much?

    Not sure where this should go so I’ll put it here.  My 6 YO DD LOVES to read.  She would literally spend 6-8 hours a day reading and doing nothing else but eating, sleeping, and chores if I would let her.  I’m glad she loves to read, but I think doing nothing but reading is a bit excessive.  I tell her to go outside and play and if I’m not watching half the time she’ll take a book out and sit on the porch and read instead of playing.

    How much reading is too much?  Should I limit it to certain times of day or require some playtime after a certain amount of reading time?

    If I were you I would limit her reading to certain times of day and require at least 30min. of play time.

    I agree with Des.  I have a child like that.  Balance is good.
