How much do you schedule in the organizer?

Do you put free reads, music practice and other daily “life” things in the CMO? (“Life” things meaning things the child would probably do anyway, whether they were homeschooled or in traditional school.) I’ve put some of them in, but I’m wondering if it would be better to NOT list/print them daily, and just note when a book or lesson is complete. It’s hard for the boys to know what they need to do in the mornings when everything is there. I lean towards simplicity when I can – which is why the CMO appeals to me.

Anyway, I was wondering what things you put in the CMO schedule, what things you notate but don’t put on daily (so they are on the records, but not the daily plan) and what things you don’t bother to note at all. Thanks!

The CMO organizer is still a “someday” mystery to me!  I haven’t used it yet but I think I might like to do it in the fall if I can fit it in our budget.

I put in everything, but life things I close before printing the daily plan so that they don’t print. Other times I just add things after they have happened. I am really picky about having immaculate records even though my state doesn’t require any.

That’s a good idea, thanks! I just made a basic ‘weekly plan’ with our book titles and I’ll let the boys use that. Then I can have the organizer all nicely filled in for me. My second favorite thing about the organizer is the reports. (First is that I can’t get behind.)

I only put in our scheduled school books, assignments, and field trips. I don’t schedule chores, music lessons, practice, or free reads. If I scheduled all that, I would never get off the computer! My kids know what their responsibilities are without me reminding them from the Organizer, so that is nice. And they read so much that I lose track of everything, and I don’t want them to have to “report” to me what chapters they’re on or what new book they’re reading. Mine frequently have 3-4 books going at once, so I feel that tracking it all would be next to impossible. I don’t use the Daily Notes at all; I don’t know what I would make a note of that isn’t already scheduled. I do make assignment notes occasionally, such as when we add new countries to our map studies or if ds misses a word during dictation. That’s about it. I’m a pretty simple person, and don’t like everything in my life/day to be scheduled.
