I am making a homemade planner for myself. One of the things I am including as a record keeping for future is a list of the books that we read this year. I want to include books I read aloud as well as books my children read individually. I have 2 boys who are able to read to themselves and then 2 other children I read to as well as family read alouds.

How many books would you estimate your family would read in a school year?

We read several hundred a year easily between subjects (history, science, literature) and personal reading and fun reading.

I will just comment on persona literature and family read/listen alouds.  I do 10 for each.  That doesn’t include history, science etc.  This is just our family listen to (mostly) in the car literature.  Also, my kids have 30 minutes a day they have to read personal lit.  Hope that helps.  But everyone is different.  They might finish all they might not.

Like Tristan, we read a lot between all the subjects plus personal reading and fun stuff.  Just lit/family read-alouds?  Um…..  Still upwards of probably 15-20.  I have 4 kids, so we tend to do all the lit books together as read-alouds at quiet time, plus my dh reads to them from his personal choices in the evenings many nights before bed.  I would say 20 is a conservative estimate.  🙂

I am just putting pages with lines on it to write down the titles so I was trying to estimate how many pages I should include.
