WOW, if Gina were able to fit 30 hours into one day, we’d all need her secret – LOL. So sorry I missed the boat in reading through. Smile Must work on my habit of attention.

Becky, thanks for the suggestions.  The character readings are actually the easiest things to stagger to give more time….we’ll complete them way before the end of the year. I always hate to cut bible/character…but since they’re also doing a personal devotion and we do family devotions, plus scripture memory, it’s probably o.k.  And I’ll think about less reading in other areas….I love all our books and hate to drop any, but will if it’s too stressful!  And thanks for the scheduling idea.  I tend to follow a flow, not a time limit, but will need to consider that to keep on track.

Christie, LOL that would be something….would be great to get school all done in one day a week:) I added it all up and it’s nearly 27 hours/week which is  about 5.3 hrs. per day.  Which seems like a lot to me, but if I take off devotions, exercise, piano, free reading, nature study that nixes over an hour per day….so more like 4 hours per day plus those things.  Maybe I just need to try it….my times may be off.  Thanks for all the suggestions and support, I appreciate it!  And anyone else who wants to share how they count their hours, please do:) Blessings, Gina

For our ds9 about 1 1/2 – 2hrs for bookwork etc per day 4-5 days per week. That does not include freetime or non-bookwork activities.

For our dd3 it’s whatever she is interested in that day! Somedays she really wants to sit and do writing or numbers or one book after another….she fits in with the rest of us.

    Warmest wishes, Renelle

Thanks, Renelle.  I love to hear what everybody does.  My 9yo doesn’t have a lot of bookwork….it’s the readings that seem to take more time.  He sits through more than I would give him if he were the eldest, but since I combine him in history/science with my oldest it’s a bit more than I would ideally choose.  But he’s the more academic/curious one of the two, so it seems to work o.k. ( hope:)  Blessings, Gina

Ok. now my question is what happens if you don’t get everything done in the tight schedule. Does this mess up your schedule you have planned for the year… I guess I will have to make another thread to get help with this one…. 🙂
