We run. My kids are on a free cross country team with kids anywhere from ages 4-14…they are grouped by ability. I run with the group my little ones are in. We’ve been running with this group for 7 years now, and all my children who have grown out of the group continue to run. My teenagers even found a homeschool high school cross country team to run with! It’s fun, and because I run also, it’s something we share. My teens and I are planning to do a 5k on Thanksgiving morning!!

Great ideas, thanks ladies! My dh does take our girls biking a lot in the summer time. We are getting a puppy in a week, which I forgot WALKING the dog 2x daily will include our P.E. time! lol My girls are ages 4, 6, and 8. My 6 yr old loved trying her best doing the KenpoX exercise with me today. I’ll check out all the resources soon. Thanks for sharing ladies!

My husband and I were both in the military so we have shown our kids, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, push ups, sit ups, and any number of other things. ( we also hold inspections occasionally, which they all giggle through the whole time). I have them run around the house when it is warm enough out, or they ride bikes, but when its to cold they pretend they are race cars and race around the coffee table.

We do jumping jacks, sit ups, push ups, etc. for regular exercise. We have attended a homeschool gym day now and again to learn a specific skill (basketball, volleyball, etc). Bike riding and trampolining in summer, tobogganing and snowshoeing in winter (it is pretty hilly where we live so the tobogganing really keeps us fit).

Right now my family is working on Archery, and Firearms. Along with science – anatonmy of a deer. Oh, and a possible trade – butchering!
All that to say – we do this but as it comes. I don’t for say make them do specific things. There is a time of year for shoveling! For kicking ball, etc. But we are not big, or small sports fans, So we just have fun with our kids, and make sure they are moving everyday. And I mean everyday, even when it’s cold and snowy. The big ones are made to go out for atleast 20 minutes. If they can’t we havea little trampoline, vidoes or just fun moves we do.
They exercise with me when I ask (ok tell) them it’s time. Though once they are started they enjoy it a ton!

We just started the Family Time Fitness homeschool program. My 10yo watches the how-to videos with me and is able to help teach the lessons if I need to step away for a minute. I also have her lead the optional activity at the end…that way they can keep playing and I can get some work done!
My DC beg to do this each day…I think we spend 30-40 minutes on it.

My hubby is the one in charge of PE here 🙂 he taught our ds8 to swim and now he is training with the special Olympics (has ASD) weekly. Other than that we take walks and that’s all 🙂

Our daughters take homeschool PE classes at the YMCA now and swimming once per week. Otherwise they run up and down our hill in the backyard or join me while I do P90X. They like their exercise DVD’s from time to time. 🙂 So we are good now!
