Everyone had so much fun learning about eachother when we talk about our degrees I thought it would be fun to share how we met our husband!
My husband and I met in church youth group when I was in 6th grade and he was in 7th. We went to different schools.
On his 16th birthday he asked my dad if he could date me and my parents agreed and we started dating. We went to different highschools so we only saw each other 2-3 times a week. We dated with no breakups the whole time.
Fast forward, I went to college out of state, 5 hour drive away. We dated long distance for 3 years while I got my degree. I played softball so I couldn’t drive down very often, we only saw each other 1 time a month. It was terrible! I hated it and it was hard, but I you can make it through that you can make it through anything.
He drove up to Savannah and surprised me and proposed 3 days after he had just been visiting during my junior year. We were engaged until I graduated then got married 1 month after my graduation.
We got pregnant my first cycle we were married. My dad told me we couldn’t get married until after college because I would get pregnant and lose my softball scholarship….fathers know best 🙂
We now have been married almost 6 years and have a almost 5 year old daughter, a 3 years old son and a 4 month old daughter.
Today is his birthday and marks 13 years since we started dating! next year it will be 1/2 my life!

How fun! High school, the summer before my senior year and the year my hubby graduated we had a mutual friend (actually my ex-boyfriend). My hubby helped fix my car (which someone had smashed my front light) so I could drive home in the dark. That was the 1st but not the last time he has gotten me out of a fix! 🙂 We dated through my senior year, and he was working at the library. We got engaged after 3 months of dating and hence I was engaged basically throughout high school. We’ve been married 16 years and never separated at all (together 19). Can’t say we’ve never went to bed upset but always in the same bed!! After I graduated I went to work in accounting and he started to learn how to install carpet. That was the best thing we ever did. Now I’m home with our children and he’s a very skilled carpet installer. I couldn’t imagine my life with out him, he truly completes me (and my sentences and can read my mind). We have 7 beautiful children. Also, prego on our anniversary but planned and excited. 15, 14, 12, 10, 7 (yr old boys) and 5 & 3 (yr old girls).

My husband and I met the summer after we graduated from different high schools. I was the youth intern at my church, and we were having a end-of-summer event for all our youth kids. I was in charge of organizing the activities over the 3-day event, but the youth pastor said he would take care of finding the band to come and lead worship for us. On the night the event started, I was running around busy trying to take care of all the last-minute details, so I didn’t notice when the band arrived. But, David (the worship leader) came in the room carrying his guitar. He said he saw me across the room and felt God tell him right then, “There she is. That’s who you’re going to marry.” As soon as I met David, there was an instant connection between us, and of course, we were flirting with each other.
After I had known him for one week, he came into my office at the church one day and said he needed to talk to me. He was moving to the town I lived in with his friend, and they were getting an apartment together. When I asked him why he was moving, he said it was to be closer to me because he was going to marry me! I was shocked! I had only known him for a week! He’s got guts, I’ll give him that much. I completely denied it because I was just 18 and was about to start college that fall. He asked me if I would pray and fast about it, and I agreed. I went home and told my mom, and she said that praying about it was a wise thing to do.
Over the days that I prayed and sought God about my future with this guy I had only known for a week, He began showing me Scriptures, giving me dreams, and just placing peace in my heart about it. When I saw David again, he took me out to lunch and wanted to know what my answer was. The Lord had given me Ruth 1:16-17, so I looked him in the eyes and quoted, “Where you go, I will go. Where you stay I will stay…”
David got tears in his eyes, and that was it for us. We were inseparable from then on. We also asked our parents to pray about it, and they did, and gave us their blessing to date and be married. We dated for 8 months and were engaged for 8 months. This year, we will celebrate 12 years of marriage, and I can’t imagine my life any other way!

My husband and I met in school. He was 15 and I was 13, however we didn’t start talking until about a year later when we were both in the same classroom. We went to a small Christian school where several grades were in one classroom. He said he knew right away, even before ever speaking to me directly, that he wanted to marry me. We never actually dated at all. Just talked a lot and became very good friends. I had a dream that I was going to marry him in grade 9. Then my family moved to Guatemala as missionaries that same year and we did not see each other or have opportunity to speak much for a while until my family was finally able to get a computer and e-mail set up. We then started e-mailing each other and rekindled our friendship via e-mail. I came back to Canada on my own for a bit at the age of 18 and he was again a very good friend to me and helped me a lot while I was very lonely without my family. He did ask me out on a date but I never felt that conventional dating was the best way to go so I asked if we could just hang out as friends until we felt that this was God’s will for us to be together. Basically we didn’t start “dating” until we already knew that the other person was who we wanted to marry. I know that sounds weird! We were engaged for about a year and a half after being “together” for about 6 months or so. For most of our engagement we were separated by great distances, first by me going back to Guatemala and then by him going across to the other side of Canada to University. It was VERY difficult and we were both very lonely without each other. We were married on July 1st (Canada Day) 2000. He was 22 and I was 20. We were pregnant a year later and now have three beautiful children together. I can honestly say that I have never “dated” at all. Looking back on my life, I think I have always been in love with my husband. He was my first and only everything! He is an incredible guy who has helped me through the absolutely worst and scariest times in my life and has never once NOT been there for me, even when it was the hardest thing he had to do. It was definatly God who brought us together!

We met at an Institute class studying the Old Testament. I was 18 and went with my male cousin. He was 21 and came with a friend of mine from another city. He had just returned from serving a 2 year mission for our church in Nevada. While he was on his mission his parents moved to the area where my friend lived, which I’m grateful for or we wouldn’t have met.
That night at class he thought I was dating my cousin (hadnt figured out the relationship yet…LOL). After class the singles all played volleyball and we got to know each other a bit. We hit it off and he called me the next night. We dated for 3 weeks, seeing each other pretty much every day and doing things with each others’ family and friends. He proposed at the 3 week mark. I said yes.
My poor parents. Now that I’m a mom I know how overwhelming that probably was for them. 😉
We got married 6 months later. Our first baby was born two days after our 1 year wedding anniversary. In the first 13 years of marriage we’ve had 8 children and 3 miscarriages. We celebrate 14 years this June!

We met at a Christiam Academy that we both attended. Both of our families moved there the same year, his parents and my Dad worked there. I was a senior, he was a junior. He is six months older than me, so I just say he is older but I am smarter (though now he has a bachelor’s degree and I have an associates degree, so the saying probably doesn’t work anymore!). Part of senior Bible class was a section about marriage that included several projects to be done as couples, inculding budgeting and planning a wedding. Our senior class had 15 girls and 3 boys. So, the teacher recruited some of the juniors to help, my husband being one of them. Then, the teacher took all the names, but them in hats, prayed over them, and drew names from each hat for project “couples”. That is when we got “married” (the first time) and when we started hanging out. Before that our schedules were fairly opposite, so we just never did much together. Then I graduated and went to college out of state, but when I came home we’d hang out. Then he graduated and went to Norway for several years. I graduated college and came home. We started emailing more and more and when he was home for a month we hung out a lot and and realized that our friendship and grown to more than “just friends.” He went back to Norway and we continued to email, call and write. In the fall I went to Norway for a month and soon after he moved home. Within a few weeks we were engaged and four months later, married (for the second time). I am thankful that the Lord brought him into my life and brought us together. He is my best friend and brings much joy to my life. We have been married for 12 years and have 2 beautiful children.

Met mine at college. My friend was dating his friend but we’d never met. On Halloween, the guy I was going to a dance with, decided he was going dressed as Jesus. I decided that was not cool and decided to stay home, so our friends ended up dragging dh over to my room & convincing us to go out with each other instead. Went to a dollar movie and watched Legal Eagles, although I didn’t see it since I decided not to wear my glasses. LOL Dated 3 years, got married, managed after several years to produce offspring, and here we are. 🙂

Everyone has such sweet stories! We were much less creative. We were neighbours. He’s a fair amount older than me (well, not really now, but back then the age difference was big) and so we didn’t really connect for years. We ran into each other at a concert one day and started hanging out everyday and started dating not long after. Four days into dating we told each other we wanted to get married, but waited a few years because I was still young (17) and he was wanting to switch careers, so we gave it a bit of time. We have had a very up and down marriage, with very hard times, nearly getting divorced. We’re finally building our marriage the right way – the way we should have started our relationship – with God in the centre, but it took us a long time to get there. Thankfully we have persevered and are now reaping the benefits! We’ve been together 11 years and have 3 beautiful children so far.

What a great thread! I made my sister introduce me to this guy that sang in the church choir with her. That was on Good Friday 15 years ago. We went on one date and I was in an accident at work and was in a burn unit for two weeks. He came every single night after he got done with his construction job to visit me. Then I spent my first year of college five hours away and only saw him twice a month. That was hard! That summer we got married and I continued college at one an hour away so I could commute. I think he knew me better then I knew myself. He is my one and only best friend and I am his.

We are an internet couple…
I had changed cities, and decided I had better change my profile on a dating site for church members. My dh would have NEVER answered the other one, as it was about me opening a dog daycare (dh doesn’t like dogs) – but my new One was about camping and scouting (my dh was a scout leader).
Shortly after I updated the post, my dh read it and answered. I guess he waited anxiously for my reply. He lived in another province!
We talked over internet, phone etc for a while. He propesed over the phone, when we had never met, and I said yes.
That was just before Christmas 2000, and I went home to fairly concerned family (although I was 32). My sister and her husband gave me plane tickets to meet my fiance.
I met him in Febraury, moved to his city in March, and got married 2nd of June.
Hm, maybe I should add he had 3 kids ages 10 to 17 – with full custody – and they all hated my existence! It was very challenging!
We did wait a bit on having our own kids, and had our first child together 3 months after the first grandchild.

We met in high school. His sister and I became good friends our freshman year. He was a Junior. He asked me to the prom his senior year. We became engaged my senior year and were married July 4, 1981. I was 17. He was 20. We moved to Memphis while he was in pharmacy school and moved back to our small town three years later. We’ve lived here ever since. We will celebrate our 33rd anniversary this year. We have three sons, ages 23, 10 and 10 (adopted from China four years ago.)

What a fun thread idea! Hubby and I met at a church training meeting for small group leaders. I always liked tall guys w/short dark hair and he was short w/longish dark hair:) He was new to the area and I had been there a long time. Nothing really clicked at first, but shortly after I ran into him at a gas station…he pulled up behind me in his old jalopy (poor college student:) w/a toilet in the backseat he’d just bought for his grandma. We talked for quite a while and that’s when I was first interested…we joke it must have been the fumes:) We were married about one year later….at 32 and 27 we knew what we were looking for!

I was almost 35 and about to convince myself that I was going to be single the rest of my life when I started working at the local mall part-time. A coworker whose day job was as a aecretary for one of the city departments asked if I would mind being “fixed up” with someone she knew at her other job. (She had found out we were from the same nearby town and close to the same age, although we had never met. We had attended different high schools, different colleges, and different churches and I had moved away from the area for awhile.) I said no, I wouldn’t mind. The blind date happened five days before Christmas before my shift, so we ate at the food court and talked until my shift. Christmas season at any mall is hectic, so we couldn’t get together much until after the first of the year. But he came around the store some (he didn’t have a phone then). By Valentine’s Day we were talking marriage, but I told him I wouldn’t get engaged until my birthday in November. I didn’t want to rush into anything. HAHA! We got engaged in November and married in May, right before Mother’s Day. We will be married 11 years next month.

Oh my, these are such fun stories! All so unique!
My dh and I met in high school, junior year. He sat in front of me in a history class and drew on my notebook — he was into heavy metal and thrash music and had an amazing talent for drawing and was really good at drawing these greusome doodles, which I loved. (We were both very different people back then! lol) I was soon transferred out of the class and our paths didn’t cross again until senior year when we had an “open study hall” — which was basically people hanging out in the cafeteria if they wanted — where we had some crossover friends and quickly gravitated to each other again.
Started dating January of senior year in high school, got married 4 years later in January of our senior year in college (went to college in different states for our frosh-soph years, then the same school our jr-sr years).
Five kids later, with our oldest two both in college, I have to say I look at teenage and college dating relationships a lot different now that I’m a mom! Funny how that happens.
