Sont know wher to begin, so I just will.

I am so overwhelmed.  I have 4 kids, one with special needs,  I have not been schooling as I should so no I will be taking the summer to start again.  My husband wroks a weird shift, he’s home in the mornings and is off mid week.  We have a child who has special needs that I do send to school as I feel it would be too much to do.  We were tryingto get a grant for him for summer school but I dont think that will happen.

I ust set up our schedule and realized that he wont be going to the summer school.  So how do I incorporate him in?

I am using the SCM for all subjects except math and language arts.  I have a 4th grader, 1st grader, 4 year old and my sepcial needs son who is non verbal and 7.  Any suggestions on what to do with him and the 4 year old as I do math and language artswith the other two?

    Thansk!

Well, for one thing, when you do family read-alouds (or anything for your younger two), include your special needs son with the expectation of however he listens best. If he will play with Legos quietly nearby, let him do that. Just because he’s non-verbal, it doesn’t mean his receptive language skills are non-existent. You might be surprised at what he takes in as you read.

Also, if you read the Bible with your other children, read it to the entire family. Again, since the Bible itself says that the Word of God does not return void, all of your children will get something out of hearing the Word.

Also, any nature study you do as part of science this summer can certainly include the entire family. Even if the younger ones are just along for the walk, none of them have to do anything too formal to experience a lot.

Other things you can do might include having those who can sort things to sort objects used as math manipulatives, then ask those who can do basic operations to add, subtract, multiply, or divide the items.
