Hi!  I live in Mississippi and have made the decision to homeschool my 12 y/o son with ADHD and Asperger’s.  I’m thinking of using SCM.  Has anyone else had experience homeschooling a child with these particular issues?  Right now, he hates school.  Anything to do with learning is just frustrating for him.  I’m willing to do anything to help him succeed, but am having trouble finding curriculum that he enjoys.  Reading is especially hard on him.  He says he can’t remember what he reads.  Any advice, support and/or encouragement welcome!  Thanks!

Have you tried audio books? Some people comprehend better through listening, and some need to  do something else while they are listening.

Maybe he would like to do projects for school work. Incorporating his interests as much as possible into school should help.

With my son he does science naturally as time allows,  so I write down what he does, and he shows me his projects and discoveries. He will do formal curriculum for high school science.

Letting him chose a time period in history to study would be good too.

The more choices he gets, the better.  The two of you will discover his areas of interest as you go, and hopefully his love of learning will return.

Sizzlebop.com  has a great blog and resources.  Carol Barnier is the author,  and her books are helpful.

Great advice!  I’ll try the audio books and the tips alone on sizzlebop.com are wonderful.  Thank you both!
