I’ve never heard of it.  I’ve heard of Homeschool Classifieds, though.

Has anyone else heard of it, I have about 15 things listed but I don’t even know how many members they have at this point…though there are quite a few selling and it is free for now….Linda

I’ve never heard of it before but it looks neat. It looks like it’s just getting started.

Amanda, Homeschool Port allows you to sell things you have made as well in one of their categories, someone is selling homemade beaded items – perhaps you could sell your notecards on there….I hope you are right and that because it is new not many people know of it, because it could be a fantastic place to sell homeschool books etc. Anyway, try the notecards and see what happens…..Linda

It does look interesting, although in clicking around the site, I ran across an ad that came up for one of those so-called online chat rooms featuring ladies in Hong Kong…..

I know that some blogs and sites offer little or no control over what ads they post on your pages, but I suppose I could ignore them. Just thought I’d mention it.

I have not seen that yet – the only ads I have seen are educational, and nothing more than that….I have very strong security on this computer and pop up blockers so maybe that helps…I will keep an eye out though. I would think the people who run this don’t want that kind of thing on their site…

The “online ladies” ad showed up on the site itself (not as a pop-up, so it wouldn’t be blocked that way). I was curious to see if I could figure out who started the site, so I went to the last page of the curriculum postings. (I thought that if it was an individual who started it, they would have been one of the first one’s to list something.)

Anyway, I clicked on the member name for the oldest post, and it took me to the member’s profile page. That’s where the ad showed up, over to the right of their profile.

I did a bit more clicking on links to member profiles (yours only shows ads from k12, which I don’t mind), and I saw another one asking if I wanted to meet smart Arab women. Aside from the chance to speak to them about the Lord, uh, no….

I sent an email to the site owners about this, so I’ll let you know what they say when they respond. They probably had no clue that this type of ad might show up on their site when they started it, and it’s likely that no one involved in setting it up for them brought up the subject.

Thanks Sue, all I know is that no-one seems to be buying – so I might transfer my things to classifieds…..or ebay as well. I wish these people would say who they are….then would have a good idea as to whether it was ok or not. Keep me posted please. I don’t want to be looking at stuff like that either….:)

I use homeschoolclassifieds also. I didn’t even know about this one. I will look into it. Thanks. Is there a problem of posting on here? I noticed a few people selling books and they went extra fast. I even bought a few. Innocent  Hope I didn’t miss a message about that. I hate to give out info. that is incorrect. However, If we are on here all the time why not post and sell it right away. At least you know that someone on here maybe looking for a book that they have been wanting. Someone on the classifieds may not be a SCM discussion forum person. Just sayin’

Note ; These are just my own personal thoughts. Not the thoughts of SCM or anyone else on or affiliated with this forum, or influenced by anyone else on or with this forum. These maybe just desires brought on by thoughts on my own personal level. Dont take them personally. or any advice that might be given freely. It is my own advise and may only be breifly held against me. Depending on my intentions and whomever likes to hold grudges for long periods of time.  Tehe he  Laughing

I would love to sell on here, but I don’t think Sonya wants to make a habit of that on this forum, may be wrong, but that was my impression. I think she lets one or two slide, but maybe she could chip in and tell us her thoughts. It would be nice to sell to people we are already familiar with – maybe a future benefit of SCM, who knows…

Yeah maybe a link to a SCM forum Book website… Cool   Not a bad idea… and to think we came up with this one…

I think it would go over BIG!  Well, It is so much easier to just post and everyone gets ahold of the person. Maybe Quarterly post book sale for 2 days.  there could be a weekend of posts of books for sale and everyone could go threw them??? LOL  You know everyone is looking for some near Dec/Jan. April/May, Aug/Sept.   Ok so maybe this is just a pipe dream but I would love it!  Thoughts?

As someone who is swimming in books and cannot keep all of them I would love to find a way to sell them, but you have to think of the money side of things, payment through paypal etc….no I have sold one or two things on here that way, but there are complexities that could come up I am sure, and there could be dilemmas for SCM as well which they may not wish to bother with. I was thinking maybe we could all come up with our own lists and prices and then just have a note on the forum stating to PM us when we have items to sell, and then transfer to our personal home emails to complete any transactions, that would keep SCM out of the financial side of things and we would just be using the forum to alert people to items for sale not to discuss the items or list them. I don’t know really, but I like the ladies on here, and it would be more comfortable…
