I need a new “in the middle of it” homeschool book. Not a book about how or why to homeschool, or about teaching math or writting. But rather the kind of book that you hide in the locked bathroom with on grumpy days when you need a time out. Do you know the kind of book I mean?
I really like Karen Andreola’s fiction — ?Pinecones and something? (I can’t remember the exact title! I’m getting OLD!) and Lessons from Blackberry Inn. The fictional story is enough of an escape for me; the ideas and the example of Carol, the mom, are the balm I need on those days.
I just started The Homeschool Mom’s Devotional Journal: 52 Days to a Stronger Homeschool. It just came out so there aren’t any reviews and I’m only a few days into it, but it looks great. You journal along with the readings.
Another one I like to read is Large Family Logistics. Although not necessarily a homeschool book, I find it motivational to read.
I love many of the ones listed here. I’ve also loved Reaping the Harvest by Diana Waring. I re-read For the Children’s Sake last year and it was refreshing, too!
