My son will be completing Algebra 2 in a couple of months and due to the program he was using he hasn’t done Geometry yet. He has not used Math-U-See so I was wondering if there would be any problem with him using it now for his Geometry.
Another question I have is related to Science. My son really enjoys his Apologia Science but because of a variety of reasons he will be just now completing Apologia Physical Science. Being that he is finishing up his Algebra 2 right now I was wondering if he should just skip his Apologia Biology for now and go to Apologia Chemistry. I hope that made sense. Any thoughts or suggestions?

We’re using Math-U-See for Pre-Algebra right now and then will move to Algebra 1 and then Algebra 2. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use Math-U-See for Geometry. We were doing a totally different program before switching to Math-U-See Pre-Algebra. On their website, they have placement tests you can give your child to see where they need to be placed. Here is a link to the page with the placement tests (it also explains the testing as well):
I just would like to add something about the Apologia Physical Science. You probably know about this, I didn’t catch it until my daughter was more than half way through the book. It is not a high school course. It is recommended for 8th grade. One lady on my email loop said that if the kids write a research paper on physical science at the end of the book, it qualifies for a high school credit.

In regards to the Apologia, this must have changed because, if I am remembering correctly, it used to be that even though they recommended Physical Science for 8th grade, it was also okay for 9th grade for a not-science oriented student. I just now checked out the sequencing of the subjects and it doesn’t have that suggestion anymore. I was not aware of that. I purchased the Physical Science for my soon-to-be 9th grader and assumed it was worth a credit just on it’s own. It certainly is enough material. I think it should qualify. 🙂
Maybe adding in some living books in addition to the textbook material would be an option along with some written narrations to go with the living book selections?
Ah…I knew I had read that! Thank you so much for the link! Earlier, I only looked at the page that talks about the order of courses. It seems though that I remember it used to be on that particular page too. Oh well, maybe not. 🙂
