My son will be a junior next year and we plan to do the Early Modern guide and Modern his senior year. What books/curriculums have you all added for Government? I know SCM suggests one from Notgrass, but I’d like to see what others have used or done.
We haven’t started yet, but I’ve been looking at curriculum. I just ordered The Everything Government Book, which AO schedules in for high school. For economics, I like the samples of Economics for Everybody. It’s a DVD/textbook program. The Uncle Eric books also look interesting, so I may add one or two of those. Someone here mentioned combining the Economics for Everybody video lessons with the Uncle Eric books…I may do just that myself.
My son had read several of the Uncle Eric books beginning in 7th grade and then we used The Everything Government Book for Gov. Now he’s reading Economics in One Lesson and watching videos on Prager U (I think that’s what it’s called) for Econ.
Cathy Duffy has a list of books for economics. My list stems from hers.
For government we used A Living History of our World volume 8 as a spine recently. Before that we used Christian Liberty’s government books and Clarence Carson’s American Government book.
I am listening to and taking notes on the Federalists Papers: the Original Argument for the Constitution by Glenn Beck and I strongly feel, for US Gov’t, our whole families need to study this document, as it was a blueprint for the Constitution. Martha
