I also wanted to add (because of the link to the Cheeseslave post) that it is not true that animal fats and saturated fats cause high cholesterol. My family and I eat copious amounts of pastured eggs, grass-fed beef, coconut oil, butter, raw milk, cheese, and bacon, and my husband nor I have ever had high cholesterol. These foods are so high in Omega 3’s and GOOD cholesterol that I would not be without them. We actually favor these foods over fruits and veggies in our family. And I should mention, that although I have a few pounds I’d like to lose, I am in no way overweight. I do have other health issues (adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism), but these are not related to what I eat. In fact, my doctors have said that my issues would be a lot worse if it weren’t for the fat that I eat to feed my adrenals and hormones. Also, my dh and I don’t exercise, and he’s not overweight either. He’s 6’1″ and weighs between 175-180 all the time. And lest you think I have great metabolism, let me assure you that I don’t. In fact, my metabolism is super slow–as a result of my low body temp, which I am currently raising through diet. I eat all of those foods (in high quantities) and have maintained a weight of 135-145 lbs, and I am 5’5″.

Also, agreeing with others about not having your cholesterol checked until well after weaning. Breastmilk is a very high cholesterol food, so of course your blood would show higher than normal levels while nursing! Try adding some nourishing fats to your diet, removing vegetable oils and conventional meats, and maybe taking a long walk a few times a week.

    Hope that helps!

Look into taking Wholemega by New Chapter. It’s cold pressed salmon oil and has all 17 naturally occuring omegas. Two capsules a day equals having 3 servings of salmon a week and it’s clinically proven to lower triglyceride levels.
