My friend told me the forums here are great and I’ve been perusing for the last several days. Learning a lot and appreciating the conversations!
We’ve been homeschooling for a year and a half-ish. I have a 7 year old HFA, ADHD son with Semantic-Pragmatic Disorder, 4 year old girl and 19 month old girl and expecting in December.
I was NEVER going to homeschool, but God completely changed my heart on that, and now I’m contemplating homechooling through high school, which I know has to be God, bc that is something I never wanted to do, even when we decided homeschool was best for our son.
Charlotte Mason, and especially this site, has been a boon to our family and perfect for him. We use Math U See, Sing, Spell, Read & Write and SCM books (106 Days of Creation, Genesis through Exodus, etc) I realized last week that we were missing a few books we needed to do first grade right, and so have been researching and ordered a few new ones (maps: then & now, illustrated Bibles bc my son needs visual cues to help him understand).
The toddler can be a challenge, she usually makes a huge mess while we’re schooling and sometimes, when she gets too rowdy or whiny, she gets to watch her “school” which is Leapfrog Letter Factory.
I’m very much into natural birth, am a doula and placenta encapsulator, I’m also into the primal/paleo type diet and eating very healthy. My girls have had food intolerances, especially my youngest, so I have a lot of experience with nursing with intolerances.
Welcome Merrymommy – I agree great screen name. Hope you will find things here to help, nurture, make you laugh and bless your days. You will find much to enjoy here. Blessings, Linda
HAHA! I’m super SLOW – didn’t look at your screenname, just read the description and thought, wow! This girl and I have a lot in common – kids similar ages, same curriculum – digging the eating habits… right up until the natural birth part/placenta encapsulation part and then I thought – hey – I have a friend that does that! Well, duh! Finally read your screenname! Welcome, friend!
