Have any of you read any of Henry Winkler’s books? I know there is one called “Help! Get Me Out of Fourth Grade.” There is a series that it is in. Are they worth reading? Are they twaddle? Is there anything inappropriate?
Is this the Fonz? I had no idea he was an author. I have books by Fred Gwynne who played Herman Munster. 🙂 They are very funny. Julie Andrews is actually a very good author. My patrons enjoy her Little Bo stories and Mandy is dearly loved by many of the girls.
Sorry, that doesn’t answer your question at all. Just a ramble. 🙂
I picked up the Ghost Buddie Series by Henry Winkler AKA “The Fonz” and I have not seen anything super inappropriate such as language or sexual inuendo etc….. I would say these are twaddlish they are not like clssic literature withstanding the test of time by no means, but are similar to books like Mrs. Piggle Wiggle or Peter and Penny…just fun leisure reading. I have purchased 4 books in the series and have read two and will read the other two this summer….Basically a boy in elementary school 10yrs old I think changes school and has to make new friends and fit in and he has a step dad now and so his life is in transition and he lives next door to a bully and discovers a 99 year old ghost is living in his closet that is a boy too and not much older. This ghost has to learn how to help people and not be so selfish before his time is up for good and he decides to make the new boy his project as he begins to help him deal with the bully and other situations that always seem to go wrong and the boy works it out in the end, but doesn’t quite feel so alone anymore. So really far fetched, but we all need a little bit of silly every now and again….8-P
It is funny and my kids have been able to “predict or see” the disasters before they happen and I think they like the little twists in the plots as things suddenly take a change in a different direction and I am not completely bored like say with Diary of a wimpy kid etc. HTH
OH, my kids are solid in our faith and so the story on ghosts etc do not scare or bother us anymore than say a story about a fairie would. the books do take place in public school and since my kids have been to public school before, they often affirm that this or that does indeed take place. I would be curious to know how a home schooler would like these books if they have never been to public school….interesting thoughts.
