    Hello all!

Hoping you can help me.  I am looking for some online lessons for school.  They don’t have to be CM, just something to cover basics for a 7 yr old.  He is moving here from Mexico, knows some English and would be entering the 2nd grade.  This is a temporary measure while the family settles in another town.   I don’t typically use any online things (except for math drill) and thought some of you might know of some other sites to point them to for grammar, etc.

    Thank you so much!

Time4Learning would work easily.  It is internet based, they can set the level for each subject to fit the child, and it will cover the basic academic subjects in a fun way.  I want to say is it $19.95 a month for one child and there is a free trial they could start out with to see if they like it.  It’s something we’ve used for a month when I had baby #6 just so the kids had “lessons” available when they wanted to do school.

We used Time4Learning before CM. My son loved it! I highly recommend it as an online curriculum.

This is not a curriculum. But http://www.sheppardsoftware.com has lots of things to do for math, geography, some LA, and science.

Here in Ga. K-12 is free. There are some things to do online as well as textbooks. The only thing is you have to turn in work to a teacher. It is hooked up w/ the public schools.

http://www.brainpop.com is another online paid resource. Again, not a full curriculum. As for a full online curriculum and a great price…T4L is the best IMO!

    Here is one:

    Lesson Pathways

and it is free.  You might find a good combo of sites (like a different site for math, lang arts, and science) by searching the Freely Educate blog, if “free” is a big plus…

One thing to note about k12….if you purchase the curriculum from k12, you can homeschool with that. If you get the materials for free from them and interact with a teacher, you are enrolled in a public charter school. So, while the curriculum might be nice and who doesn’t love “free,” if you do not wish to associate yourself with public schools, you might want to reconsider.

What I might add, though, is that the online public school we were enrolled in for a couple of years used Time4Learning to supplement math, reading, and language arts through one of their programs called “Odyssey,” which you’ll see mentioned if you visit the Time4Learning site. My kids enjoyed Odyssey and the lessons/activities were short.
