Hi, all! I sure enjoy reading posts on this forum. I would like some new ideas for juggling lessons with my many kiddos. My kids are 11,9,7,5,2, 6 mo. My husband works most days 2pm till very late, so we try to start bookwork then. It helps that the 2 year old is napping. We try to alternate days that I do individual lessons with kiddos- 11 and 7 yo one day, then 9 and 5 yo next day. They all love doing work on their own and helping each other with lessons. I just feel like once I do 2 kiddos lessons, correct others work, help with oldest 3 piano lessons, cook a few meals, nurse baby a few times, try to remember to drink water, we barely even get any other wonderful studies done together. I know it is early in our new school year but wow. I feel overwhelmed. We only got “Sword Drills” done today besides individual lessons. yesterday we did a few minutes for Bible, art, hymn, poem, and composer all in one sitting. whew. just would love to hear from some other moms with many kiddos who love Charlotte Mason type studies. 🙂

Well, you’ve got a different schedule going starting in the afternoons. What about capturing a half hour in the morning or even an hour to do a few things whether it is a main subject or some of those extras? Maybe even just put the piano lessons here? And simplify dinner preparations by preparing most of it during the morning (cutting, mixing, baking, or using a crock pot)?

What work do you have to correct? Math is the only thing I correct right away, and there is an answer key in each teacher’s manual for Math U See. It’s also about the only thing that we do that needs corrections.

Part of it may be just finding your groove. With my 7 it usually smoothes out after a few weeks to a month on a new schedule/routine.

I do try to sometimes do things in the mornings, but that is our time with Daddy. We hang out, do fun projects, or go places. I do try to just do easy something for dinner since lunch is our big meal with my husband usually. I guess it just doesn’t help that his schedule is so crazy. I make it a #1 priority to be with him when he is home, which can be morning or sometimes evenings like tonight. This afternoon will be light lessons. I am just thankful he isn’t deployed right now!!

I don’t correct a whole lot more, just check over handwriting, spelling, an extra workbook that each love to do, compositions, and narrate with a kid or two.

I know I should give myself a few more weeks, thanks for the encouragement!!!!! 🙂
