I am still trying to figure out this site. I know there are lots of other places to find public domain books that are downloadable, but I have not found one book yet on the curriculum page here that reccomends such a book. All the books are either at Amazon or your library. Are there any public domain books in the curriculm? And does this site note them as such anywhere?
If you can tell me which grade levels you will be using from the SCM curriculum guide, I can list which ones are public domain. Several of our literature and history books from module 6 are in the public domain. Although, I’ll probably have to do it tomorrow morning. I’m pooped and going to bed!
Thank you for your help. We actually would be doing module 6 as well, with a 13, 11, 8, and 5 year old, and with the younger 3 children listening in. So am I correct in gleaning that you have to figure out whether each book individually is in the domain and this site dosn’t highlight which ones are?
I have finally had the chance to go through the history and literature modules, and I have compiled a list of public domain books. (Incidentally, most of them can be downloaded or read online on the Project Gutenberg website.) I only went up to grade 9 because I figured that would cover the ages of your children.
Yes, I just changed it to make it available to anyone who has the link….sorry, I forgot to change it from a private document!
I’ve also been working on the living books recommendations for science, and there are lots of public domain books there. Hope to finish and add them to the document soon, but…..school starts tomorrow (breakfast out–yay!), I still don’t know how soon my dad’s surgery will be, and I still have to put at least the first term of history in my planner!
