Yes we did have enough time each day it was easier for me to schedule 2 heavy days and find things for the younger ones to do vs. doing a little everyday. Then the one day of vocab is good for them for review. I really like the program. As I said i am not looking for a major language or to pass any tests with it. We are not a bi-lingual family. I am trying to incorporate Latin for help with grammar, for our 2 foreign language credits and to broden our learning. For those purposes it works. I know that’s not enough for many families but for us it will do.

Houseofchaos–my oldest tells me I “ought” to switch to Wheelock’s. It probably is the best technical program out there. Ever. HOWEVER, I still like the teachers stuff and the Bible stories in Latin in the Christian Trivium. 3rd son is doing it now. And it certainly didn’t handicap oldest son who did very well on tests and in college classes. So, my heart is still with LitCT.

Wow ! I have to say I am overwhelmed by Thomas Purifoy’s (owner of compass )response. He will send me another DVD free of charge! How great is our God?! I feel so blessed and humbled. Funny note, he wrote “We understand that things do get lost in a homeschooling family. 🙂 ” So excited to start the program now:)

Bookworm do you have thoughts on these other programs:
Lively Latin, Getting Started with Latin, or Latin for Children. There was one more I’ve been introduced to but it escapes me right now.

Claire, what ages are you looking for?
Lively Latin I know nothing about. Getting Started with Latin is a TERRIFIC beginner program. It really doesn’t get you very far, but it is a very good starting place. Started there with my third son.
I’ve never used Latin for Children, although I have used Spanish for Children. It is a solid, steady program. Not as many reading type things in it, which I do like.
Latina Christiana is supposed to be good for younger students. Again, it doesn’t go very far, you will have to move to another program at some point.
Henle has an excellent reputation, almost as good as Wheelock’s, and I think it doesn’t move quite as fast. It’s very tradiitonal–written a long time ago. Memoria really likes it, if I remember right. It is an upper middle school/high school program. Very serious on grammar.
