I know this sounds silly, as I know what to do with him, it’s just I’ve gotten rid of the stuff that I used when my son was that age! I have 2, 9 yr. olds and my 21 mth. old grandson is finally going to be babysat by us. I tossed out or gave a away all the wonderful things my son played with then- all I have left are a couple of puzzles and some large lacing letters and a ride-it horsey thing. I have music for him to dance to. My son has some old wooden trains he can use (just gotta watch the mouth thing) and maybe my dd has some play dough? We have a decent size letter magnets and a board and chalk, but no large crayons for scribbling. Nothing to ride on; he can swing in my son’s lap and slide down the slide. Part of me doesn’t remember that age and I know my son was engaged in play activities much more so than my gs is, no electronics, lots of outdoors and very little tv and he listened to stories, I really didn’t entertain him at all, but I can tell that he’s used to that; it’s not a good situation domesticly either. It’s bad when your dd-in-law wants to have something to do with you but your own son, gr/son Benjamin’s dad, doesn’t.
He’s used to being very stimulated by modern toys/tv everywhere else he stays and I’m not going to do that. We gave him his wooden blocks the other day when they were visiting and he didn’t know what to do with them.
Could ya’ll give me some ideas please for stuff I may already have around the house? I don’t know if we’ll be heading to walmart for large crayons and manual things like that.
