I am sorry if this is the wrong spot, but I just wanted to take a minute and say hello to everyone. I am a CM mama at heart and have always loved her teachings and methods but I can never seem to stick with CM. After years of struggling with trying to incorporate her methods, I literally just gave up…But now, I have found this site and forum and helps and I have a hope renewed!! I have a large family (12 children ages 27 down to 12 months) and have graduated five students so far. The first two were almost totally taught with the CM methods, a long time ago, when I was in a local CM group! The others, not so. I lost my way on how to go about things with a large family, (and being pregnant or nursing and running a big ol’ family…etc…lol!), and resorted to a lot of textbooks/workbooks.
I am excited to be here. I am revamping my school plans now that I think there is help for me here.
Hi! So neat to meet a momma with more children than me (my oldest is 14 and I’m due with #9 this fall). Simply Charlotte Mason has been a great help in simplifying things in my head so that we can pursue CM methods as a family. Being able to do many things together, letting each age take from the day’s learning what they can, and then focusing on individuals where we must, it’s been great!
I’d love to hear what you end up doing! I *only* have 5 DC, so I like to see how others handle a variety of ages…we seem to do some things differently every year.
