So I know I am posting once again an “alert” but frankly I believe we need to be
aware of this, not fearful.
I think we need to help one another in society, that is to an extent, but I believe these comments go much deeper than that! It is preparing us to allow the government to “step in” when they see fit! Not good for anyone, especially homeschoolers!
Oh yes! I heard about this and listened to the audio on Monday. It has nothing to do with being charitable with one another and this perspective on collective ownership of children has been done before and it doesn’t turn out well. It’s completely anti-Biblical.
It’s actually very good that it’s finally being said – that those who believe this way aren’t keeping it to themselves anymore; it’s much easier to confront something when it’s out in the open instead of being hidden. Those who have poo-pooed those us who have been concerned about this direction, which has been coming for a while, are more likely to listen to us now. I just hope it’s not too late, as I think the general populace responds very well to emotional “arguments” and are generally ignorant of history and have been trained not to be skeptical of gov. anymore.
However, she may backtrack a little if there’s a large enough outcry, but don’t think it goes away, just underground for a short while while others may come to her defense. We’ll see…
I agree, it’s not at all about being fearful. We must be as wise as serpents, though and prudent and do all we can to conteract this attitude in our homes and communitites and with those we come into contact with as much as possible. Freedom is the exception to the rule NOT the rule and it’s hard-come and lis lost easily.
Pray, pray…be attentive and active. Stengthen your counties and states. IMO, it’s not about us going along anymore; that if it doesn’t directly affect us in the immediate then we disregard it-that’s not good enough. And yes, I believe common core is a part of this (as was No Child Left Behind). Along with this article from HSLDA, they also posted about the national database concerns and the fact that they’ve confirmed that NY has homeschoolers on it: http://www.hslda.org/docs/news/2013/201304090.asp
Its so sad for the family and all they are going through, and yet makes me so angry that it has to be like this, and again makes me so greatful that we are all standing together on this.
What?! The HSLDA video is anti-Biblical? I’m confused….I’ve never known them to express anything other than a Biblical standpoint on homeschooling & family issues. Please explain….
Or do you all mean that HSLDA is warning us about a group (or the government) holding anti-Biblical views?
Oh, I read something I was sent about that. It might have even had a link to the video. I’m just behind on a lot of reading & videos that people send me. I haven’t even had enough time to research more on the Common Core stuff for about a month now.
I almost wish I could start summer break now so I had more time for other things, but we’re not done yet!
