Has anyone used Wayfarers? By the same woman who wrote English Lessons Through Literature. It looks interesting, it schedules all subjects for grades K-12. I’m wondering how it compares to SCM guides?
You can download samples and see. Kathy Jo schedules narrations and lots of book choices, most of which can be found free or at used book pricing. A large difference is that Wayfarers schedules all subjects whereas SCM allows you to choose topics for history, science, the arts.
I never used it but did look through the samples, I felt the same that it was a bit overwhelming because it is so full and gives so many options. I have an acquantance using it, not sure which one and she said it is ok but some of the books are way over her kids understanding, her oldest is in 1st grade though.
After thinking about it more I also remembered that I do not like having all my subjects scheduled out for me because if we skip a subject on a specific day I feel like we are behind and either am flipping back and forth or have to catch up. I like subjects to have a schedule, like SCM history, our science and math have a lesson number, but I write our own weekly schedule and if we miss a subject it just moves to a new day and I don’t feel behind.
