Has anyone used “Exploring the World of Chemistry” by Tiner? I’m wondering if it’s good and if it would work as a spine.

I have it. What ages are you considering it for?

High school. I would add in other books to go with it. Do you think it would work as a spine and is the book engaging and easy to understand?

Hmm. I may use it for my middle schooler, but I’m not sure about using it for high school. It’s light imo.

I don’t believe it would work well as a high school spine.  It could possibly be a supplemental item, but it is not IMO anywhere near a high school level chemistry book.  It’s really more of a “history of chemistry.”  Not that this is bad, but it is NOT really a chemistry text.  I don’t think it was really intended to be one.

Thanks ladies. Since I posted my initial question about the book, I have decided on a Chemistry program that is already put together. If I decide to use Exploring the World of Chemistry, it will be as a supplemental reading. 🙂

We’re using it right now for my upper elementary and middle schooler.  I feel a little intimidated by chemistry, so we are using it as an introduction to the subject matter so that when we hit it in high school it hopefully won’t seem so foreign (again, mainly for me!).
