we have it! Bought it through the HSBC for the three years, but we haven’t used it much. The times my DS has used it, he’s loved it! I’m going to be scheduling it in after the holidays to make sure it gets done, my ds loves art and I want to make sure he has the time to do it.
My 7, going on 8, yo ds loves these art lessons. He is a natural athlete that has always been ahead of his friends when it comes to gross motor, balance, bike, etc. But fine motor doesn’t come as easy to him. I was concerned that his drawings still resembled preschool age, typically, and looked for something fun and engaging that he would willingly do. I found this to fit the bill. I have seen gradual improvement (very gradual since we’re not very regular with the lessons) and he will occasionally state having learned how to draw a certain shape or shading from an art lessons when we’re doing, say, science. I still want to do something like Drawing with Children with him, but neeeded something in the meantime to build some confidence on his part. Lack of confidence has a big impact on his willingness to even attempt something. For fun and light art lessons to get the feet wet, I would highly recommend it.
You got me curious about it. I checked it out and I am thinking of doing it too. My 6 yo ds loves to draw. I was thinking of trying I Can Do All Things by Barry Stebbing.
This is one of the reasons why I homeschool. If he were in PS, he would not have nearly as much time for drawing.
We’ve used his online art program (on & off) for a couple years now. We started it with our middle son who was 8 at the time. I don’t think he would have done well with it any younger than 8. It is very enjoyabe, however, and there are lots of art lessons to choose from!
