    Is there a difference between the originals versus the newer faced ones I see?

    Yes, I will not let my boys read the newer ones only the older ones.  Some of the content in the newer ones does not agree with our choice for books.

    Yes, there is. If you look on Wikipedia (sorry, I’m on my phone, or I’d link to it), Franklin W. Dixon is a pen name for many authors of the stories. They have definitely gotten more “modern” over the years. You may want to read a few to see what you think of them. BTW, Nancy Drew books are the same way. The publishers wanted a boy series and a girl series.
