Thanks Rachel! We were going to make cookies today. The other resources look good. I will have to try the “Eight tales for eight nights and the Valley forge stories. ” I will have to look into all of these ideas.
Alexandra’s Scroll by Miriam Chaikin is great historical fiction for any family studying the time period, but since it covers the first Hanukkah, it’s fun to read aloud now, especially!
Oh, I forgot about Alfred Church’s The Hammer: A Story of the Maccabees. I meant to get a copy this year before the holiday hit, but didn’t get it done in time.
Jason’s Miracle looks interesting as well as a piece of historical fiction. I try to add a couple more to our collection each year and thankfully our library system is wonderful.
