This is a dumb question..but how often do you get your hair cut? It has been since last April since I have got mine cut! YES,,,more than a yr ago! It is not my favorite thing to do for some odd reason. It is looking yucko..and guess I will have to grin and bear it and go! The cost is nuts..and my hair is getting to be a nice shade of gray, brown, and black mixed in! From old coloring, fading, and growing out!

Do you cut your own hair? I have tried..following a video on youtube but didn’t do a good job! My hubby says he will learn and do it! HA! Don’t know if I trust him!! LOL! Anyway, just curious on where you put your hair in your priorities!

    Thanks for your input! 🙂

I go every 5 mos or longer! I go to a nice hair salon and pay good money but then it is worth it because the layers grow out nicely so I don’t have to go as often. I cut it to shoulder length with long layers.I like to wear my hair up a lot so I don’t like to get it cut short. I’m just now having to get my hair highlighted to cover grays but it’s not looking to bad 5 mos later. Smile I plan to go soon because I can’t wear it down after it gets too long. With it being this hot, I only wear it up anyway! I definitely don’t get my hair cut at cheap salons where they don’t care. I’d rather spend the money to get something done right the first time!

I spend $120 for a cut and highlight (I get 2 colors and I have SUPER THICK hair). A cut is around $30.

I’m low maintenance.  It’s been many, many months.  And when I do go, it’s to Great Clips or the like, often with a coupon or sale for $7ish. My hubby cuts his own hair, if you can believe it…I should just have him do mine:)  I’ve never colored, but am getting to the point I may have to succomb…waiting for hubby to tell me it bothers him!

All that to say haircuts are quite low on my priority list:)  Hubby likes it longer anyway.  Gina

We cut the kids hair (son gets buzzed, daughters get trimmed) and either my dh or I do his hair.  I prefer my hair very very short, but I go a long time between cuts, and it gets to sholder length.  I tend to go to the cheaper place… i used to have specific people I would go to.  I haven’t found someone I really really like where I live now though.

I enjoy getting a shampoo and cut – but just hate paying.  If I ever win the lottery, I’m hiring someone to come in on a regular bases to shampoo my hair because I enjoy it a lot.

My hair has never been coloured (and only permed a couple of times in my life.)   I have on occasion (not recently) had a cut at a beauty school – and the instructors almost always rave over how “virgin” my hair is, and if long enough ask if they can take some of the hair for students to practice colouring etc (after it is cut) because it is rare for them to get that type of hair….

My hubby cuts my hair and my son’s (and his own). Every once in a while (once a year maybe?) I will get it cut professionally (mine, not my son’s). As long as I don’t want a major style he does a great job, even with layers. He does a fantastic job with my son’s too. I say let him go for it. 🙂 As for color, can you use a box of something from the drugstore? There are coupons all the time for hair color.

Of course if I had money and didn’t live most of the time in Africa I would get it cut every 5/6 weeks and have it highlighted a couple colors. There’s so much a cute haircut can do to revive a look, but, I just happen to like that sort of thing.

I haven’t cut my hair in at least a couple years…..  Embarassed  Except for the split ends, I really don’t care how my hair looks.  😛  I’ve been “growing it out” since the 7th grade, and it’s finally almost to the middle of my back.  I know I should trim it more often to get it to grow, but hubby insists that is silly and not true.  Undecided  Not that I can afford to have my hair cut once a month anyway, so…  There we stand.  🙂

My dh loves my hair long, middle of the back.  I would also love to pay someone to come wash my hair it’s the best feeling.  But also like someone said my hair is VERY low on the pole, even lower than the dogs (seriously as she goes every 4 months on schedule).  I go maybe 2 times a year and to the cheap o places or I have my mom do it and she does a pretty good job.

My dh and sons all get hair cuts every 3 weeks and they are buzzzed.  I always get asked if their dad is military cause they all look it, even dh has a buzz!  But I do those so no money there except when the clipper burns out with 6 cuts every 3 weeks!

Now I have 2 girls but we don’t have bangs and I like that so no need for frequent trims.  And she’s 2 and at this point other than her brother cutting a snip of hair (Yell Oh I was mad!) she’s not had or needed a cut yet!

You are not alone as you can see we mom’s really need to treat ourselves better!

I recently got a shorter layered hair cut  – which I love BUT I do not love having to go get a trim so often to maintain it!  With my old long all one legnth hair I got an annual haircut LOL.  Now I need to go every 5 wks or so and it has been way too long this time.  I have been putting it off every day this week LOL.  I just can’t seem to get into the routine of making the appointment for next time while I am there in the salon.

I go about every 6-8 weeks.  When I first switched to my new hair dresser I was not making the next appointment, and it would be 4 months or so between visits, and it really didn’t look too nice by then.  Very stringy looking, and the ends definitely had the split-end look.  My hair looks much healthier when I get it cut regularly.

About every 6 weeks to get restyled, I have very fine hair and unless I keep it trimmed it looks flat and awful – I have always wanted long hair, but it does not suit me and won’t grow nicely past my mid neck line – so I usually keep the front about chin length and the back a bit shorter with lots of layers to make it look like I actually do have hair – lol. I think those of you who can have long hair that requires little styling to look nice are very lucky. My hubby likes my hair the way it is now, so it is worth keeping it in trim. One daughter goes every 12 weeks and the other every 8 as she has fine hair like me. We don’t spend a lot on clothes and things, and so the stylist is the thing we spend a little more on to keep looking well put together.

I go three times a year and in between, when the boys get theirs cut, I’ll have them trim my bangs.  My hair is almost always up (this avatar was taken at church) and my rule when getting it cut is, just leave it long enough to pull back.  I go on Tuesday so it’s well past my shoulders now.  After Tuesday it will be a little longer than chin level.  I hate spending the money, too.  As with everything, I always say, “How many books could I buy for what this costs???”  Wink  And I did do without a winter coat last year to buy The Chestry Oak.  (I had a very old lightweight coat so I didn’t freeze.)

I go every six weeks without fail. I’m not high-maintenance by any stretch of the imagination, but my hair is fine, straight as a pin, and getting significantly gray. Without layers in my hair and color to cover the grays I look tired and about 10 years older.

I put off getting color as long as I could and I hated to do it, but about a year ago I HAD to start getting it. One of the first comments I heard from people who hadn’t seen me in a while (or from my jabbing younger siblings) is “Wow, you’ve gotten a lot of gray”.

I just started cutting my boys hair and dh’s hair about 3 months ago. We don’t buzz, I use scissors, and for the most part they turn out pretty good. DH’s is especially easy to cut for some reason…….. maybe because he sits still and doesn’t cry.

Anyway. I like getting my hair cut professionally. I have really long hair, but lots of layers and bangs and like to change things up once in a while. But I’m really bad about going in every 6 weeks. Its usually more like 8-12 weeks and by then I’m desperate for a cut because my hair looks really, really bad. I have started trimming my bangs so that helps. I would love to have my stylist color my hair regularly, but its so expensive that I have a hard time justifying it. Since I have so much hair, they charge me for two bottles of color. I can buy two boxes of color at the store for a lot less, but its SUCH a pain to color your own hair. Right now I’m at a point where I’m wondering how much I care about my gray hair showing….. I’m only 36 but we go gray early in my family and I have dark brown hair, so it really shows. I guess when I have some motivation I’ll color it again.

I think that I feel my hair is “my one beauty”, lol. But I don’t get my nails done or pedicures or go tanning or any of that other stuff. I’m just not that girly I guess. Plus I think I’d rather have new clothes regularly or clothes and shoes for the boys than pay for that other stuff. We are fortunate to have some extra money to spend, but choice still have to be made. And then, like Robin, I think, hmm, I could buy books too….. Tongue out

I don’t get mine cut much.  The last time was over a year ago, so my hair is down a little past the middle of my back.  I have had it all lengths, including about 2 inches long (really short).  I prefer long.  I do not color my hair at all, and as I go gray I’ll just let it happen, that’s they way God made it, why should I feel embarrased by it?  I just turned 30 and should start going gray any day, as my mom started about this age and most women in my family gray early.

For the family – I cut hubby and the four boys’ hair myself, and I’ll trim the two girls’ hair, but a big cut on the girls (more than an inch or two) usually gets done at a place like Great Clips.  They don’t get haircuts often either by their choice.

I hate spending money on things like haircuts! My mom trimmed my hair on one of her visits in April and I may get her to do another one when we visit in a week. I cut my own bangs in between, as needed. I probably end up getting a professional cut about once a year or so, though. I don’t do any coloring (but I did a couple times, a loooong time ago!). I don’t think I will do coloring at all, ever, either. I don’t like the thought of the chemicals, to be honest. If I start going gray, I will either “work with it” or find something I can do at home with herbs to help cover them. As for everyone else in the family, I cut all hair. Incidentally, I don’t do nails, tanning, waxing, or get new clothes except when it is specifically required of me or if I am in desperate need! LOL! And even then I will try to get what I need used or make it….except underwear! Girls gotta draw the line SOMEWHERE! All that to say, I actually DO have a sense of style and have a “personal look” so to speak. I have just learned to spend as little money as possible to achieve it! LOL! Oh, and my kids look pretty cute, too…most of the time! HA!
