I was wondering if any of you know of quotes or sayings that refer to the habit of attention? I have LDTR which offers a few quotes with each section of habits. I was wanting to have our copy work be quotes or Bible Verses that reflect the habit we are working on. There are plenty for obedience, truthfulness , kindness etc. , but not as much for attention. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I don’t know for what age child you are looking, but I got Abeka Cursive Writing Skillbook 3 for my daughter to do this coming year. I know Abeka is not considered CM, but I was impressed by this book. It begins with a review in letter formation. Then it goes into writing words and sentences and small paragraphs. What I thought was fascinating was that much of what is written in own words has to do with nature, specifically animals. Some examples are In a complete sentence answer, “Why is the mountain goat a good climber?” or “Why are long ears important to the black-tailed jack rabbit?” and “Why is the ladybug the gardener’s friend?”, plus many more. There is a dictionary of animal life in back of book to fine the answers. There are Scripture verses for copywork along with historical quotes and documents like the American’s Creed, The Pledge of Allegiance, a portion of Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, and poems. There is a section on copywork pertaining to the provinces of Canada. Then there are Bible verses and historical quotes that are written in a character notebook. So, character is covered in this book of writing skills. Maybe this isn’t exactly what you are looking for, but I wanted to mention it, because I think the writing activites in this book fit so well with what we are teaching in our CM education. (Scripture, nature, history, geography, character)I’m looking forward to having my daughter work in this.
How about “Whatsoever things are pure, true, lovely, of good report; if there be any virtue, any praise…think on these things.” I don’t know the reference off the top, nor can I quote it quite…but you know what I mean, I’m sure. This would be a list of wonderful things to give our attention/thoughts to. Just a thought. It might or might not fit depending on what your specific focus is.
