I am thinking of using Guerber/Miller’s Story of the Greeks alongside the Joshua-Malachi/Ancient Greece Module for next year.  What age level do you think it’s appropriate for?  All Through the Ages lists it as a spine for grades 1-3.  My son will be 7 and roughly grade 2 – he’s a strong reader and a good listener.  Do you think using the Guerber in addition to the module would be too much?  If not, how would you line them up?  Thanks!

I can’t answer if it is too much.  We are starting on Mod. 2 next year also.  We just purchased it because we used the Ancient Egypt one this year and loved it.   I have an 8 and 6 year old that listened to Ancient Egypt and did well.  The stories are short and great for narration.  We plan to use Guerber book instead of Men of Greece.

I don’t really know what ages I would say it’s appropriate for but we are using it as our family history ‘spine’ for ages 8-15 this year and all are enjoying it.  I have both the Greenleaf Famous Men of Greece as well as Story of the Greeks.  We liked the flow of the narrative in Story of the Greeks better.  I just matched the SCM lesson to that in the Story of the Greeks.  Sometimes the the order of the lessons in the SCM module were different from that of the chapters in SG but we moved them around and it worked just fine.  If we were short on time I would sometimes use Famous Men instead of the Story of the Greeks.
