Just thought I’d share a new book I found at our local Salvation Army thrift store the other day–The Umbrella by Jan Brett. There’s just one thing I need to check–since it takes place in the Amazon, it contains some words that are probably supposed to be Portuguese, but I’m almost positive they’re Spanish. (I know those languages are closely related, but not that close). Maybe I should go across the street and ask our Brazilian neighbor.

We really love Jan Brett’s stories, her artwork is amazing! I’m pretty sure The Umbrella is supposed to be located in Costa Rica, thus the spanish. We love to go to her website at http://www.janbrett.com/index.html where she has lots of ideas to incorporate into her stories. Our dd, who is very artistic, loves to watch the video clips of Jan drawing animals, it is so interesting to watch her create her lush paintings. Our current Brett favorite is Hedgie’s Surprise, we gave it to our daughter for her 6th birthday.

I’m glad you found a treasure!
